March 1st: Next Meta, Renewal

With the coming of the new banlist, I've got lots of things to do. The two things aren't related, I'm busy because of other thingies, and thus I didn't have time to work on my decks for the new meta more than a little bit. For this exact reason I decided to write this post about changes in Yugioh and changes that will affect my decks and how.
First of all, general meta:
Meta should be easily Mermails and Spellbooks, highly supported by Konami, and Fire Fists.
Fire Fist is a great deck that I don't like to play (sadly, others say it is plenty of fun) and has a lot of potential. I don't know this one very well, but it is easy to guess that after some time after the banlist (about 3 weeks at most) most will drop Vorse Raiders. The reason Vorse Raiders were played was pretty much DDV. Currently, though, the main thing that DDV hit was Wind-Up, and the latter won't see much play, even though I'm really liking this one now. Bear aside, the deck doesn't even cost too much (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not really expert with prices).
Mermail and Spellbooks won't change much, Mermail is play-ready from the first days of the new meta without any problem, while spellbook is still waiting Judgment Day in the TCG.
Hand Traps are about to become useless, since neither Veiler nor Maxx are that good against those decks. However, if you're forced to play one (like me with Hootcake in Madolches), play 2 Veilers and you're okay.

This is our meta. End.

My decks:
Let's first say that the next meta I'm probably working on my decks more than usual, if I get some time, because I wouldn't want to play one of those three for tournaments (even on DN, I just don't want to). I'm probably working on them to make them meta-ready, and thus have big advantages against those decks. As of now, I'm playing Gate HEROes, AZ kills Mermail and I can do something against Spellbooks. However, even though I didn't test yet against Fire Fists, they should have the upper hand, because my AZ's blow-ups can't do a thing against a previously on the field bear or an addition tensu's summon.

For the other decks, let's see Chain Beat. Here is my previous list, I believed I changed it alot, even though not remember how, even before the new banlist. As you can guess, Tour is bad now in this deck, since I can't bring Zenmaity anymore. This isn't that hard to update, I just have to change my main search engine for Rabbit with another one. Tenki's the way. Dropping the entire Tour engine we get 4 slots, dropping a Warning will result in 5. We have multiple ways to use those. 3 Tenkis and 2 Bears. Provides search power and additional searchable monster hate. With 2 TKs this is a viable option, however I'm trying to get this in RL, and thus I can't make it cost that much. For a budget build it will simply be 3 Tenki and 2 Winged Rhynos or 2 Tenkis, 2 rhynos and 1 Horn (great card), or 3 tenki, 1 rhynos, 1 horn. I believe the latter is quite unstable, since I've got 4 targets for 3 cards. It's true that tenki has a power-upping effect, but 3 for that isn't that good, and opening multiples maybe isn't awesome. What's more, 3 could clog your S/Ts, so I'm using the second. In the other changes I already did there is an Orichalcos mained. It's great because Rabbits becomes, usually, 1400+500+100=2000, more than TK, and Rhynos can take care of Megalo, Junon and Soko.
I'm waiting for Thunderbirds and HA7 to play them, and the build should change alot.

Infernities XYZ. A general guide here. Well, I'm not playing this in RL for economical reasons, but with Lavalval it could be great against Mermails: they can't play Macro Cosmos and we have easy access to Dweller. Spellbooks could be a rough match-up, but I think we can handle them and possibly OTK 'em. Fire Fists are still unknown to me, so I don't know.

Collapserpent-Wyburster Monarch. Here the list. As usual, it can get Dweller out, thus it is good thing against Mermails. It plays Vanity's Fiend leaving only Undine and Pike+infantry as an out to it. As for spellbooks, we can't get Shock Master out, but Caius, Vanity's Fiend and Soul Exchange can give them an hard time. No MUs here.

Madolches. As you probably know, there'll be Hootcake in LTGY. That one card will give us Madolche player a giant push in the right direction. We can easily do Tiara on turn 1, if necessary (it sure isn't). Of course we have access to Dweller as nothing, and with some effort to Shock Master, too. Having both is great for the next meta.

There will be the main decks I'll work on, given what I know right now.

Here is all I could write in these days, sorry if I'm really busy and can't write more. See Ya.

Collasso Dimensionale: CollapseWyburster Monarch (aka. Chaos Pet Monarch)

Monsters: [28]
3 Battle Fader
1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
3 Caius the Shadow Monarch
1 Chaos Sorcerer
3 Dark-Winged Dragon Collapserpent
3 Cyber Valley
3 Dimensional Alchemist
2 Effect Veiler
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Jinzo
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Raiza the Storm Monarch
1 Tragoedia
1 Vanity's Fiend
3 Bright-White Dragon Wyburster

Spells: [9]
1 Book of Moon
2 Chaos Zone
1 Dark Hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Soul Exchange

Traps: [3]
2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
1 Mirror Force

The extra is quite random, I'd want to play some LV8 Synchros, too, because I'd want to side Trap Eater (more on this later), and Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, because I'd want to side or even main Cyber Dragon.
The deck itself is kinda great, I envy OCG players for having those two great monsters and we'll have to wait quite some time. Basically, Collapserpent and Wyburster are younger version of Lightpulsar and Darkflare (not for a matter of effects, but of artwork and being "coupled" like these two) (this is the reason for the alternate, and my favourite, name for the deck, "pet" because they're younger). They can summon themself by banishing one of the opposite attribute (Wyburster banishes a DARK and Collapserpent banished a LIGHT), and IF sent to the grave from the field, you can add the other one from the deck. If...you can means they never miss the timing, and thus making them great Synchro or Tribute fodder. My main idea was making a LV8 Synchro-reliant build, with Summoner Monk and Vylon Prism and such, since LV8 Synchros are great. However, building it, I noticed it was completely inconsistent, because it would have had way too many dead draws. I thought a little more about it and I realized that going into a monarch build would have been awesome, because caius was DARK, Veiler was LIGHT and such. I looked into ALL of my monarch builds, even older ones (I found even perfect circle monarch among them, LOL), to gather some more ideas, and I finally found "Dimensional Monarch". It used Fader as main tribute fodder, while cyber valley was the second favorite tribute fodder and even recycling and stalling source while being even the main source of draw power of the deck (I didn't like allure and I still don't in this deck) while Dimensional Alchemist recycled all of those things, and at the same time was a beatstick and eventually tribute fodder.
Right now, with the build revamped quite a lot, the deck is consistent, way too consistent than lots of other things or so-called tier2 decks. A starting hand consisting of one of Battle Fader, Cyber Valley or Dimensional Alchemist is a good starting hand, expecially if you mill well with Alchemist.
Having one DARK or LIGHT in the grave, allows for a chain of dragons basically endless. Have, for example, veiler in the grave. Summon Collapserpent (that, btw, is my favourite because of the pun I love), tribute him, get Wyburster and summon him banishing Collapse so that when Wyburster is destroyed, you'll have once again a banish fodder in the grave and so on.

Let's see the cards one at time:
Fader, tribute fodder and attack blocker, alchemist recyclable.
BLS, great, 'nuff said.
Caius, best monarch ever.
Chaos Sorcerer, same of BLS.
Collapserpent and Wyburster are the main engine.
Valley is draw power, tribute fodder and stalling card.
Dimensional Alchemist, great, recycles anything, has a good body, triggers chaos zone, and is LIGHT.
Veiler, LV1 for Chaos Zone searching effect, good card itself, and LIGHT.
Gorz, good against OTKs and such, and is DARK.
Jinzo, good "monarch", to allow OTKs and go into control on the opponent. In one game I drew into all 3 of my traps and this one alongside fader. I used everything not worrying about my set traps, and after they destroyed my jinzo, I activated my traps one after another totally scaring the opponent and making him thinking my deck had quite some traps, and thus setting MSTs was pretty good and useful and he didn't see that Gorz coming.
Plague, not sure about this one, however DARK tuner recyclable that lets you go into Volcan, the new LV6 Synchro. Tribute fodder too.
Raiza, good monarch, I was thinking of playing another one in place of Plague or something else.
Tragoedia, you usually have large hands, and that's good. What's more, DARK.
Vanity's Fiend, lets you go into control on the opponent if he has a Special Summoning heavy deck, and if well played, this card can sit onto the field for quite some time.
Book of Moon, good card.
Chaos Zone, good card, sometimes it has lots of counters that it can search you a caius, and you can use it to revive anything. What's more, it's the only card in the main that you have to counter those Macro decks, Heavy and MST apart.
Staples everywhere.
Soul Exchange, teched at 1, I feel that one is good enough, because more would make you skip your BP too many times. Great against Dolkka and for when you fear a set monster.
Staples for the traps.

I used Lightray Sorcerer (1 copy), but later on I took him out because I didn't really feel the need for him, and was quite hard to summon mid game, and late game he wasn't needed.

About Trap Eater, I'd like to side him for those Macro Decks, mainly, and then going into Stardust, Scrap or such. That's always a great thing, isn't it? Either Eater or Warnings to stop starlights, macro and regular summons.

Well, that was it, try the deck out because it really works wonders.
See Ya

Usual Trivia: "Collasso Dimensionale" means "Dimensional Collapse", referred to Collapserpent and Dimensional Alchemist, other than the banishing ability of the deck.

Hieratics

Let's start sayin' I don't play Hieratic, since I don't like those kind of comboes that summon big beaters, it's just me, however.
I'm here to talk about those Hieratics and the splashability of some.
Tefnuit+Su+Wattail+Luster dragon+Seal of convocation is the generic splashable engine. I believe we all saw at least once Gishki Hieratic, right?
For those who didn't, it's basically Gishki with some hieratics, that because when sent to the grave with aquamirror their effect triggers. Well, given that Gustkrake (view two random cards in your opponent's hand, put one back to the deck) is LV6 too, like the hieratis and their vanilla, they're often used for tributes, but there's a major loop. It revolves around Ptolemys. Discard shadow to search aquamirror, tribute tefnuit/su to summon gustkrake, -1 the opponent, then hieratic's eff and summon wattail, wattail+gustkrake=ptolemys, eff ptolemys, detatch gustkrake, retake shadow, eff mirror, bounce back gust and put mirror back in the deck, effect shadow, take mirror, use mirror, tribute another hieratic, special summon gustkrake and repeat using all the cards you can to recycle them.

However I was going to talk about this little engine tweaked a little in monarchs.
Why Monarchs? They're all lv6, they like to recycle their tribute monsters, they can provide tributes without relying on treeborn frog and they can make lots of comboes and generate lots of OTKs.
Well, I'd use the Engine as: 3 Tefnuit, 2 Seal of Convocation, 1 Wattail. If you aren't going to use treeborn (I'd recommend using it, but don't will let you use most good traps without fearing anything), I'd recommend even the third seal.
Well, before continuing, I'll say that I never ever builded it or played it, so this is just how I would build it.
Here's how I build this:
-Main engine: 3 Caius, 2 Mobius (against macro cosmos)/2 Raizas (they're more versatile, but poersonal preferences, however pretty much everyone will go into Raizas, Know That);
-Support engine: 3 Tefnuit, 2/3 Seal of convocation, 1 Wattaildragon;
-Support engine #2 (optional): 3 Swap Frog, 2 Ronintoadin, 2 Treeborn Frog, 3 Enemy Controller, 1/2 Creature Swap, 1 Gorz;
-Staple spells: Book of Moon, Reborn, Dark Hole, Heavy Storm, 2 Typhoons;
-Support cards: 1-3 Illusionsnatches (the deck can play this too, and if you tribute summon a hieratic you can go into atum with this, and thus play REDMD. I find 3 copies of this too much, though, I'd play 2, I believe), 0-3 REDMD (personal preferences, I'll play 2 I believe);
-Other Tributes: 3 Battle Faders;

Some other possible cards are: Foolish Burial (with the frog engine) and Pot of Avarice (random recycling&drawing)

So this is approsimatively how I would build it:

Monsters: [24]
1 Wattaildragon
3 Caius
2 Raiza
3 Battle Fader
2 Illusionsnatch
3 Tefnuit
3 Swap Frog
2 Treeborn Frog
2 Ronintoadin
1 Gorz
2 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

Spells: [15]
3 Enemy Controller
2 Creature Swap
2 Hieratic Seal of Convocation
1 Book of Moon
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Dark Hole
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Foolish Burial
1 Pot of Avarice

Traps: [1]
1 Treacherous Trap Hole

I could have forgotten something, so take this as a skeleton, more than a real build.
You may be wondering why this post is made like this without testing it. Well, it's just that tomorrow I'll go on a little holiday (2 days), so I'm preparing something, and this evening there's my favourite little cousin's birthday and I must go, so after this I've no free time till tuesday when I'll be back.
However, I already wrote the card review and planified the day and hour of the post. I put it on Monday, at 10 o' clock, in Italy. Here we have GMT+1, just do your maths, I'll give a cookie to the first one to comment, LOL.

Well, See Ya.

Nimble OTK

Monsters: [23]
2 Caius the "Awesome" Monarch
2 Dupe Frog
1 Light and Darkness Dragon
2 Ice Spirit God - Moulin Glace
3 Nimble Goosefish
3 Nimble Manta
3 Nimble Sunfish
1 Obelisk "the Great 3-Tribute"
2 Ronintoadin
3 Swap Frog
1 Treeborn Frog

Spells: [16]
1 Book of Moon
2 Creature Swap
1 Dark Hole
3 Enemy Controller
1 Foolish Burial
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Moray of Greed
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Pot of Avarice
2 Salvage

Traps: [1]
1 Treacherous Trap Hole

I builded this with a friend of mine, he's called Itachi, I'm sayin this to give credits to him, and because I'll need you to start being familiar with this name, I believe I'll build a lot with him.
Said this:
The deck is Broken, while nimble before weren't even called an archetype, now they're a broken one. For those who didn't realize how the deck works, it's basically Nimble Goosefish Abuse, with gachi gachis everywhere helped with swap and ronin. After this, it usually OTK with Daigusto Phoenix (double phoenix with 2 gachi gachis on the field is 9200 damages, without attacking with the gachis that are 1300 Attackers) or using Moulin Glace. It goes into OTKs in the range of 3/4 turn maximum, in the while time it controls a little with Caius and Enemy Controller (ya all should know that I love E-con), while doing some beat with big monsters supported with Gachi Gachi, and sometimes it goes with Mouling to hand control the opponent and have a beatstick. I did something like 20 duels with this deck, and still, I haven't ever draw into: (I'm saying at least a copy, so if I drew only a caius in a duel, it would count as "drew")
Obelisk;
LaDD;
Reborn;
Swap;
Book of Moon;
Treacherous.

I never lost in these 20 duels, so I didn't draw into those because of this deck winning the second or third turn, usually, or fourth in some hard match-ups, fifth with difficult hands.

Let's explain some of the cards:
Caius, controls well the field while having a good beatstick. We mainly put him in, along with LaDD and Obelisk because we put treeborn, and we put treeborn because of swap that was put in because of the good amount of lv2 and the effect that discards that can trigger goosefish.
Swap, ronin, dupe, treeborn, the Frog Engine. Basically, we needed more cards to do rank 2 xyzs, because it would be kinda slow without this. Thanks to this engine, we could implement some tribute monsters.
Obelisk and LaDD, good tribute monsters, I still haven't tried them, since I didn't draw into them yet, but they look okay.
Moray of Greed, draw card, but mainly because it could put back cards like nimble manta and nimble sunfish that could clog the hand while having no targets in the deck for Goosefish. We were thinking of magical mallet, but we prefer this over mallet because this one is a 0, and not a -1, and the fact that mallet can put back other cards doesn't really affect us, putting back those water monsters is more than okay.

No Gorz. Why? Forgot, we're thinking what to drop to put this one in. The prime candidate is Obelisk followed by LaDD, but since I haven't drew into them yet, I can't fully decide on this.

The deck awesomeness is mainly into two things:
Foolish Burial in the starting hand, it is a clear +1 with goosefish;
Nimble Sunfish, no matter the moment, since it triggers goosefish going into a +2 (destroy sunfish, -1, summon sunfish, 0, summon 2 nimble, +2).

There are, however, hands like:
Swap+Goosefish (if you have another frog in the hand it is still better, and consider that with this you haven't NSed yet);
Dupe+Goosfish (requires a turn, but if you have dark hole, it is kinda a pro move, lol).

And there are tons of comboes, they are all awesome like this, some are better, too, but it changes from situation to situation, remember that Salvage is a great card and that Moulin Glace is really easy to summon, the most hard part is drawing into him.

Awesome deck, try it, you won't be disappointed.
Well, Ja Ne (see ya, japanese this time).

Card of the Week #8: Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7

2 Level 6 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using 1 face-up "Constellar" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, except "Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials of this card.) You cannot activate this card's effect the turn you Special Summon this card this way. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard; return it to the hand.
Random Rulings:

1.Summoning this card by overlaying it on an XYZ monster is considered a proper XYZ summon;
2.If this card is the only monster on the field, and there're no monsters in both grave, you can still use this card's effect and retrieve the detached monster;
3.If this card is summoned with its effect, and then you flip it face-down and then face-up, you can use its effect.

Explanations:
For the first one there isn't really an explanation, since it is clearly written in the text, more than an explanation there's a result for this.You'll be able to reborn this card with call of the haunted, monster reborn or even XYZ reborn.
The second one is really simple, Messier can bounce itself, nothing says he can't, and, how I said lotw of times, you need at least a valid target before you activate the effect, then you decide who's your target, in this case either messier or the material.
Third is the easiest one, it says "you cannot activate this card's effect the turn ecc...", if instead of "this card's effect" it had written "Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7, you wouldn't be able to do so.

I talked alot about this card in the past, haven't I? Let's see this card closely first:

-Constellar monster, got a lot of good supports, expecially because it is a Constellar XYZ, however those supports are to be played in Constellar Builds.
-LIGHT, we all know that LIGHT monsters are supported in a lot of ways, don't we?
-Machine, maybe one of its main weakness, could be used as material for chimeratech fortress, even if Machine got some good support, nothing special, though.
-"2 Level 6", generic XYZ summon, that's what makes this card great, monarchs, gishkis, LV6-abuse builds, and so on.
-Another way to XYZ summon it, got an effect that makes its summon easiest, you can XYZ summon this card by simply putting it on top of a Constellar XYZ monster, however the turn you do so, you won't be able to use its effect.
-Awesome stats, while you can understand at first catch why 2700 ATK is great, if you're a new player or a returning one, you won't easily understand why 2000 DEF is great, that's for Maestroke. Maestroke's effect flips it face-down, to attack it. That works with a lot of monsters, because monsters who have high ATK, won't have high DEF, while this card has both. Utopia itself can't run over this card, even pearl's atk isn't enough, Gaia won't run over it. The only one that can kill it are Zenmaines with his effect, and thus while taking some damages, acid golem, and thus while seriously limiting his owner's moves, and a combination of Maestroke and a monster with at least 2050 ATK, and it does need a lot of efforts for a deck that doesn't abuse of XYZs. Another monster that could get rid of it is God Dragon of Heliopolis, or something like that, don't fully remember his new name, the old one, though, was ennead, you all should remember him.

Sadly, still OCG-only. More pesonally speaking, this card is kinda awesome, generic XYZ summon, even a specific one by overlaying it over a Constellar XYZ. It got even an awesome effect, bounce monsters on the field, retrieve monsters in the grave. Not to talk about its great stats, which I talked about earlier.

I love this card in monarchs, Illusion Snatch does a great job in there, normal caius, use his broken effect (I believe his effect is one of the most brok in the entire game, only that being a tribute monster it isn't as broken as tour guide, but thinking of that if tour guide were a LV3 monster that required to be normal summoned a tribute, she would be pretty caius-like, theorically awesome effect, but when it comes in play, that -1 is for her normal summon isn't good), then SS Illusion Snatch, go into Ptolemys, recycle either Illusion Snatch or Caius (the one you don't want to risk to los, if you have another monarch in hand, I'd take Illusion Snatch, if I haven't I'd take caius to normal summon him when needed). Next turn, if Ptolemys is still there, take the remaining one, tribute it for caius, use his broken effect, SS Illusion Snatch, go into another Ptolemys, rinse and repeat 'till you win, lose or run out of Ptolemys.

This card is an awesome one in Gishkis, mainly Gishki Hieratic where it has a loop, discard Shadow, add AquaMirror, eff mirror, discard (or to be precise, tribute from hand) tefnuit, SS Gustkrake, see 2 cards, send 1 back, SS Wattdragon/Luster Dragon#2, XYZ Gustkrake and Luster Dragon#2 into Ptolemys, eff ptolemys, detach Gustkrake, add Shadow. Eff Mirror, return it to the deck, and take back Gustkrake, eff shadow, search again mirror. Rinse and repeat this too, till you run out of Hieratics/Ptolemys. If you draw into multiple copies of Shadow, for a turn you could retrieve a hieratic, in place of a shadow, that way you can make the loop stand one more turn.

Ptolemys gave birth to the XYZ Climb, which I talked about in the past, in this post. That's an easy way to summon what's needed, mainly this one for the next turn, or gaia to run over nasty reapers or cards like that. You could use XYZ Gift while doing the XYZ Climb, since you're not going to use all of the material. Let's say you draw into Batteryman AAA, SS another AAA, XYZ into Omega (2 XYZ material, at this point you could yet use Gift), Chaos XYZ Change into Ptolemys (if you haven't used it before, you could use gift now, because it has 3 material under it, right now), Chaos XYZ Chang einto Gaia (now you could use 2 Gifts, since it has 4 material, if you haven't used any before). However Gift has a nasty restriction, you need 2 XYZ monsters on the field, that's bad. However if you are doing the XYZ Climb you could do as in the post I linked, go into ptolemys, wait a turn and then do the XYZ Climb again, while having 2 XYZs on the field.

As said on the Ptolemys' tips page, you could use Future Fusion (you know how much I love this card, don't you?) to send 2 Gigaplants or Il Blud, SS one with Swing of Memories, Gemini Summon it, use its effect to SS anoter one from the grave, then go into ptolemys, use its effect to take back one of the materials.
Before continuing, you must know that when glow-up bulb and spore were banned, I was sad not for Plant Decks (or to be more precis, synchrocentric decks, since only few cards of the original plant deck were still there), but for GigaVise, one of the deck I loved. Well, they are replaceable in there, but no one will totally fill their place. However, with Copy Plant you'll be able to go into this card, send supervise to the grave and SS another gigaplant, while you can use ptolemys' effect to take back copy plant to NS it next turn and go into another R6, or, if you got another supervise, you can SS spore ang do immediately into a synchro or another R6, while triggering again Supervise.

Well, That's All Folks, while writing this, I had the urge to play GigaVise again, once I'll have a bit of time, I'll rebuild it, and then, if it works, I'll post it here.

P.s. want a little tip? As you could imagine from reading the link of this page, I initially wrote card of the week #7, in place of 8, that probably was because of ptolemys being "Messier 7", and, being not to concentrate, I wrote it like this.

Beta Overdrive Frog Monarch

Uh? Are you saying that I'm doing too much post on this deck? Probable, but I said that if I didn't find a deck that I could mantain for a long time I would grow bored more than I'm now, so this isn't necessary a bad thing, what's more I said, promised, that I would post the decklist, so it was.

Monsters: [29]
3 Battle Fader
3 Caius the Shadow Monarch
2 Esper Girl
1 Gorz
3 Hushed Psychic Cleric
1 Mental Seeker
3 Overdrive Teleporter
3 Psychic Commander
1 Ronintoadin
2 Serene Psychic Witch
3 Swap Frig
2 Tragoedia
2 Treeborn Frog

Spells: [11]
1 Dark Hole
2 Emergency Teleport
3 Enemy Controller
1 Foolish Burial
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
2 Mystical Space Typhoon

I noticed how Extra Deck is totally personal, so I won't list. If you're curious or you don't know what to put in, look at my Extra.

However, the only cards I'll never change in number/drop will be Fader, Caius, Gorz, Cleric, Swap, Treeborn, obvious staples, E-Con, Teleport, Burial and Typhoon.

Why? Except from staples, Fader is awesome, same for E-Con, Teleport, Caius, Burial and Swap. Gorz is essential, when you're losing or you drew into nothing, this card can win you games too, Cleric is needed in 3 copies because you're going to combo a lot with here, I even started with 3 of her for some unlucky rounds, but she was awesome however, since you could combo however and provide good tribute fodders for tribute monsters, mainly Overdrive. Typhoon at two is kinda awesome, since it won't clog and you'll have the perfect number (3 with heavy) for your backrow hate.

I was thinking of adding Synchro Fusions, Ultimate Axon Kicker and Exterio, to be precise, but maybe they'll be a bit situational. Exterio is surely situational, not hard to summon, but since you have Beast and Barkion on the field you won't use them for Exterio, probably. What's more the Extra Deck is tight, if you look closely there isn't BRD, I'm going to add it at Gaia's place. I wanted to find a slot for Axon Kicker in the Extra, in the main I could simply drop 1 Tragoedia, but the problem is in the Extra.
There's one thing in the Extra I noticed, for some reason I never used R3 XYZs, maybe I could drop them and put in an Axon and one more synchro, maybe BRD in order to keep Gaia.
The reason why I don't want to drop gaia is that he's the only that will let us OTK. Strangely, even if comboeing in a nice way, it's pretty hard to OTK with this deck, one of the most probable cases is with the combo I said in the previous post, summoning Librarian, Gaia and Red Dragon Archfiend, right 8000 damages, but the opponent have to have a clear field, that's why I'd prefer going into a control combo, Beast+Barkion+Stardust, that's 7200, but given that you're drawing with Esper Girl you could draw into an Emergency Teleport and win attacking this way, OR going into Librarian+Brionac (to bounce threats)+Stardust/Scrap (based on how much you have to destroy), 7500 damges, 2 draws with Librarian and 2 total draws with Esper, and 3 discards with cleric, you have some probabilities to draw into some Reborn/Emergency Teleport and win.

When playing this deck you should take care of 2 things, take down opponent's backrow the most possible AND don't forget nothing. Personally I lost 2 duels last night because I did the wrong combo the first time and because I forgot to resummon stardust, that because I was sleepy, lol. However playing on Dueling Network and playing IRL is lot different, you won't forget stardust while playing IRL, while on Dueling Network it is kinda easy.

That should be all, if you have some questions, just ask. See Ya.

Overdrive Frog Monarch?

I was trying something with Overdrive Teleporter, and, you know I love challenges, I made a build that features a little Frog engine (3 swaps, 2 treeborns and 1 ronintoadin), and triple caius.

Are you asking why? Oh, you say you aren't asking why? I'll explain however.
I love frog engine, it generates really easy tribute fodders for our monarchs, and in this case teleporter, too. Making the life easy for caius is really good, since it could run over threats that your backrow hate (2 MST and 1 heavy storm, not really an "hate", but there's still some), like some nasty rai-ohs and other things like that.
What's more, swap helps with Overdrive. We said that recycling him isn't easy, because the only way is ptolemys, and his main weakness is veiler, one of the most played card in this format. If veiler hits Overdrive, what will we do? Just cry over our 2000 lps and tribute fodder? I won't, go with swap to bounce it back and re-use him next turn.
Then, what other does the frog engine provide us? I believe it provides a good and hard-to-stop defence, the one in the hand, fader and gorz, with tragoedia too. What's more, Gorz usually provides the big monsters for the final pushes, while fader provides tribute fodder, and tragoedia can help in both things, basing on luck, while manipulating its own level or stealing opponent's monster. With Tragoedia there are a lot of lolly plays, one I like is stealing an opponent's lv6 monster discarding caius, and then copying is level to XYZ. This can be done with any level that has an XYZ that requires 2 monsters.
Other than this, in pretty much any duel I did, I saw how good was Enemy Controller. I play it in 3 copies, and stops everything. One of the move I did the most is stealing an opponent's rai-oh tributing treeborn to tribute him to go into a teleporter and combo.

Then, this deck has good potentials, because it isn't hard to make naturia beast+naturia barkion-Stardust Dragon plays and stop the opponent, if you just have a little set-up, nothing really hard to get, you will be able. In most cases it is done with an Esper Girl in grave (or in hand, but if needs at least a psychic monster in the grave), a Teleporter in hand and a Cleric on the field, with 2 discard fodder in hand:
Eff Cleric, discard a card (or Esper if you have another Psychic monster in grave) to banish Esper Girl
Tribute Cleric for Overdrive, then Cleric's effect will trigger summoning an esper girl and banishing the top card
Eff Overdrive, SS a Cleric and a Commander/level 3 psychic tune
Eff Cleric, discard to banish the first Cleric
Synchro Cleric+Esper into Beast, Cleric's and Esper's effect will trigger and you'll SS Cleric
Eff Cleric, discard to banish Esper
Synchro Cleric+Commander/lv3 tuner into Barkion
Cleric's effect wil trigger, and you'll SS Esper that will banish top card.
Esper+Overdrive into Stardust, Esper's effect will trigger and you'll add the banished card.

Esper will let you draw 2 cards in the process, but you'll discard 3 for Cleric, but given the order in which they happen, you need 2 cards in hand, other than Overdrive. That's not that big of a set-up, and it ends the turn with a big field. The combo can be changed in order to draw more (summoning librarian instead of beast), and since you're going to draw some more cards it isn't improbable that you'll draw into an Emergency Teleport and you'll win. You could even go into Scrap Dragon to do more damages and into brionac to bounce nasty cards.I believe that with the same set-up you can end with a winning field with more than 8000 damages if opponent has a clear field, going into Hyper Psychic Blaster, Gaia and Librarian, right 8000 lps.

I'm seaching slots for veilers, but for some reason I don't like them, even if they are good. I don't like them means that I really don't like them, not that they are no good, probably right now they're the best carsd to be played.

I believe this was all, if I have other updates on the deck, I'll post them. I'll post a beta decklist, too, if not today, I'll do it tomorrow.

Card of the Week #6: Overdrive Teleporter

This card cannot be Special Summoned. You can pay 2000 Life Points to Special Summon 2 Level 3 Psychic-Type monsters from your Deck. This effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field.

Random Rulings:

1."This card cannot be Special Summoned" is not an effect, therefore not avoidable, not negable with Skill Drain or things like that.

2.Paying Life Points is cost.

Explanation? Not at all, it's not needed, at least if you want to check out something about costs you can see this other post.

Seeing this card closely we'll notice (from an objective point of view) that:

-He's LIGHT, easy material for BLS, probably, and other random supports;
-He's Level 6, can be useful for a lot of stuff, we'll see that later;
-He's Psychic-Type, Psychic supports for life points, but even for synchros that need a Psychic-type non-tuner, but I doubt this will be useful, except for a case I'll be sure to talk about later;
-He's got decent stats, 2100 runs over good level 4 monsters, but under a lot of easily summonable boss monsters. Sadly 1200 isn't enough to face Maestroke, mainly.

Leaving aside the Objective part of the review, we could say that this card is like a Psychic Monarch. That's not totally wrong, yeah, Monarch generally have 2400 ATK, this one as 2100, but still he is level 6, and this is what really make a monarch a monarch (even if there's an exception, but doesn't matter, LOL). We'll see why I mentioned them later.

Putting aside the big cost for the effect, that could be avoided with Telekinetic Charging Cell or Brain Research Lab, he's effect is awesome, is basically a double emergency teleport, only that he's frozen on lv3 and no other levels.

What could we do with the summoned monsters?
-XYZ into a rank 3 monster, knowing banishing properties of Psychic, it will be more likely Leviair;
-Synchro them into a level 6 synchro, if you summon 2 EARTH monsters you could even go into Barkion and have some protection;
-Synchro one of them with Teleporter and go into Hyper Blaster and use the other one for various sheningans;
-Use both's effect to do various abuses, it isn't totally hard;
-Use both to go into a Level 6 Synchro, maybe brionac to get rid of cards, attack, then XYZ them both into Photon Strike Bounzer to control more or into Constellar Ptolemys M7 to retrieve something, maybe Teleporter itself to Tribute Summon him using Bounzer itself as tribute and repeat the combo.

I like the last one, but probably it isn't totally good, but could be used when needed, not multiple times because of the 2000 LPs cost. If you have followed recent updates on the Monarch scene or you simply saw Illusion Snatch, you probably thinked of the easy loop of going into a monarch, summoning Illusion, attack, then XYZ into ptolemys, retrieve one of the 2, on the other turn retrieve the other one, tribute ptolemys for the monarch (if you don't have other tribute fodders) and repeat the process. Basically the same thing, only that if you have Illusion Snatch in hand you could have, at the cost of 2000 lps and a monster a Ptolemys as a beatstick and a r3 monster/level 6 synchro every turn.
However that's not the main reason why I talked about Monarch sooner, but because of the fact that they have a tribute in common, meaning you can use the same tribute fodder engine (could it be Frog Engine, could it be Emergency Teleport Engine, could it be random Faders and likes put in at random). Teleporter generates other tributes too. You can use his effect, synchro him with one of the summoned monsters and have the other one as tribute fodder, or synchro/xyz the two monsters and have himself as a tribute fodder, or don't synchro/xyz at all and have all of them for an obelisk, or tribute just one, or two, the combinations are a lot.

This card is virtually the best card ever (not really, but it is virtually awesome), but the cost and the restriction are the worst thing that they could add to his effect, The cost is bypassable with Charging Cell or Brain Research Lab, but it isn't recommended except if you want to build an abuse list that spams Ptolemys to recycle him. But the Summoning Restriction isn't bypassable at all, meaning you really have to not Special Summon him, and that's really bad, since you could have really build an abuse build that could have looped with hushed psychic cleric and brain research lab, being careful about lab, of course.

One of the best way to use him would be with Miracle Synchro Fusion to go into Ultimate Axon Kicker. It isn't even needed to explain it, just use Miracle banishing the Synchro monster and a material and you have your Axon Kicker. Kicker helps alot because you can use him (or it, I prefer thinking it is a man, since most of the psychic monsters are men and this card is a synchro+one of them, even if it has the aspect of Archfiend) to regain your payed life points by attacking an opponent's monster. Immune to Inzektors (but he is an infinite target, sadly, meaning they will loop with hornet even if you have no other cards) and Zenmaines, only way is acid golem or leviathan with its effect used 2 times, but with a simple honest you can get rid of both, or simply use a card to protect him or to lower the opponent's monster's ATK.

So, final thoughts on the card is that he can lead to good XYZs, to good synchros, to good fusions and to good tribute monsters, can generate a lot of comboes, expecially with Hushed Psychic Cleric.
Was it fast? Maybe, I reassumed all the possible to make this the littlest possible without excluding anything, just a little test to myself. Stay Tuned.
